SUPPLY.

The MINISTER OF FINANCE (Hon. W. S. Fielding). Before malting the formal motion for the House to go into Committee of Supply, perhaps I should say that as the Auditor General's report has only now been placed on the Table, I quite realize that I should consult the wishes of my hon. friends opposite, before making the motion, by saying that though we are quite preSir WILFRID LAURIER. pared now to proceed with Supply, and perhaps there might be some matters not debatable which we could deal with, however, in view of the fact that the report has only now been placed on the Table, lion, gentlemen might prefer to postpone going into Supply for another day, and if that is their desire, it is only reasonable that we should concur in their view. We have no objection to go on with Supply this afternoon, but if they prefer that we postpone it, of course I would not object to that course being pursued.

CON

Frederick Debartzch Monk

Conservative (1867-1942)

Mr. F. D. MONK (Jacques Cartier).

The disposition of the older members on our side of the House is that we should have some opportunity of looking into the Auditor General's report before proceeding with Supply. There may be some items, possibly, that an examination of the Auditor General's report would not be necessary to enable us to deal with. But I think I am interpreting the opinions of hon. gentlemen on this side of the House in saying that we would rather look at that important document before proceeding with Supply.
