The POSTMASTER GENERAL.

I have here a memorandum from my deputy in which he tells me he has sent me all that the hon. gentleman asked for, if not more.

I have not looked at the ' Hansard ' to see what my hon. friend asked for, but if he will go through the ' Hansard ' he will find that what he asked for is there, or else my deputy has misinformed me.

Mr. CLANCY.

I only wish to be sure that all that is in the department in connection with the matter has been brought down. Of course it may have been that the petition was not sent to the department, but I know it was intended to be sent.

This is one of the judges of the province of Nova Scotia who has been laid aside by a very severe illness, and who is now about to retire. It has been agreed between himself and the government that for one year he shall be allowed his full salary. He is a comparatively young man who but for his illness would have many years of service on the bench. It has been agreed that the

government shall recommend the payment of his full salary for one year after which he will receive the ordinary superannuation.
