Mr. OLIVER:
What is the reason for the erection of this building?
Mr. OLIVER:
What is the reason for the erection of this building?
Mr. ROGERS:
According to the memorandum of the Deputy Minister of the Interior Department, the building is required to afford accommodation for the geodetic and boundary survey staffs. They now occupy a rented building at a cost of $2,416 per annum. Allowing $600 for heat and light, this will pay four per cent on the cost of the building and there will be twice the present space.
Ottawa public buildings, addition, $100,000.
Mr. BELAND:
Where is that?
Mr. ROGERS:
That is the addition proposed in connection with the Senate similar to the new wing of this building.
Mr. BELAND:
What is the estimated
cost?
Mr. ROGERS:
The one on the Commons side cost $400,000.
