1 and 2. The department is not aware of the number of assistants employed in the Banff post office, as the assistants are employed by the postmaster, and not appointed by the department.

Note: Due to expansion of the service, the revenue of the Calgary post office in 1911 being $158,513; in 1914, the last year for which definite information can be given, $308,874.

2 and 3. Tenders were invited twice. The first notices were dated 20th August, 1914, and tenders were due at the department on 2nd October, 1914. The second notices were dated 3rd November, 1914, and the tenders were due on 18th December, 1914.

4. The tenders in both cases were considered excessive, and the department has been endeavouring to obtain more reasonable offers. It is not considered advisable to give the names and amounts of the tenders until the new contract has been awarded and executed.

5. (a) Cassie Parker, executrix of the late Joseph Parker, who was responsible for the service, under the former contract, from 1st April, 1913, to 31st December, 1914. (b) $3 per day.

7. $495 per annum.

8. As soon as a reasonable offer has been received.
