The Minister of Public
Works was not aware what work was being done at the Temiskaming dam nor by whom. The engineer in charge certified that the work was done satisfactorily and that prices were fair and just.
1. What is the rate of bounty paid to boat fishermen for the past years, respectively?
2. What is the rate that was paid for vessels for same period?
Mr. HAZEN:
1. Has the manager of Government railways recently leased a number of locomotives? If so, from whom, and at what price per day?
2. What load were they guaranteed to haul, and how much is their effective capacity?
3. What did it cost to repair them before being used?
1. Yes. Canadian Pacific railway, $13.50 per day per locomotive, Canada Iron Foundries Co., Limited, and Bangor .and Aroostook railroad, $15 per day per locomotive.
2. Not guaranteed. Tractive effort, 27,000 pounds per locomotive; Canada Iron Foundries Co., Limited, 37,000 pounds per locomotive'; Bangor and Aroostook railroad, 23,152 pounds per locomotive.
3. No information; did not cost the department anything.
