Department of Finance-

1. The special war taxes on trust and loan company income, insurance premiums (other than life) and bank note circulation, are paid to the Department of Finance and Insurance from the head offices of the corporations concerned, and no compilation is made of the amount of taxes paid from different provinces, nor is information returned upon which the amount of taxes paid in respect of income derived from the several provinces could be established.

2. The administration of the taxes does not involve the maintenance of special staff for the purpose. The cost is not separable, therefore, from the general expenses of the departments.

VERMILION, ALBERTA Mr. SPENCER:
