William Lyon Mackenzie King (Prime Minister; President of the Privy Council; Secretary of State for External Affairs)

Liberal

Mr. MACKENZIE KING:

The date has to be fixed by proclamation. I may quote from the Interpretation Act-the King's birthday is in the list of holidays. The act reads:

The birthday or the day fixed by proclamation for the celebration of the birthday of the reigning sovereign.

The birthday of His Majesty coming on Sunday, the government by proclamation made Monday the day to be observed. Motion agreed to.
