During the calendar year 1924, 1,571 appointments were made by the Civil Service Commission, to fill vacancies caused by death, resignations or otherwise, and 250 additional appointments. Of the total appointments made 299 were postmasters and 177 seasonal appointments required owing to a large number of positions abolished in the process of re-organization.
