Arthur Meighen (Leader of the Official Opposition)

Conservative (1867-1942)

Mr. MEIGHEN:

The minister should be

able to answer better than that. Has he no information about it? This is a simple question.

Mr. LAPOINTE:

The order has been sent to the department which it concerns and I have not as yet received the return. I have been in this House for over twenty years and I do not think a delay of one month is enough to complain about. I have seen longer delays than that.

CON

Otto Baird Price

Conservative (1867-1942)

Mr. PRICE:

I would like to direct the

attention of the Minister of Railways to an announcement appearing in the Halifax Herald under date of April 3, which is as follows:

White Star liner Regina that is having a test in making Halifax her terminus for this voyage, sails from Liverpool to-day, April 3, with passengers and cargo for Halifax. The liner is expected April 10 and will sail on her return trip April 14. Strenuous efforts are being made to fill the ship with return cargo.

In view of the fact that the Regina is making Halifax her terminus as a test case for this voyage, I would like to ask the Minister of Railways what effort is being made by the Canadian National Railways to furnish this ship with a return cargo.
