Mr. ROBB:

I would like to draw attention to the fact, Mr. Speaker, that during the last session some hon. members advised doing away with Hansard in committee of the Whole

Budget Changes

House, as a method of economy. It would now appear that we are gradually enlarging Hansard, and are not only having it in the House, but in the committees as well.

Mr. STEVENS:

I would like to draw to

the attention of the minister the fact that under the rules of the House all such motions are supposed to go to the committee on Printing, there to be dealt with. I have noticed this session that in perhaps five or six instances the rule has been suspended and printing has been authorized, but I think if the minister would allow the motion to go to the Printing committee that would solve his difficulty.

Charles A. Stewart (Minister of Immigration and Colonization; Minister of Mines; Minister of the Interior; Superintendent-General of Indian Affairs)

Liberal

Mr. STEWART (Edmonton):

This amendment is for the purpose of eliminating from the forest reserves of northern Saskatchewan some lands that have been found fit for agriculture. When the bill was put through it included more land of a good agricultural character than was anticipated, and it is now desired to withdraw that land. The amendment also provides for the addition of some land to one or two of the forest reserves in Manitoba.

Motion agreed to and bill read the first time.
