Mr. J. F. POULIOT (Temiscouata):
When may I expect an answer to a return ordered on March 23, respecting employees of the Intercolonial railway?
Hon. CHARLES DUNNING (Minister of Railways and Canals):
The matter will be looked into.
Mr. POULIOT:
I am interested also in two other questions regarding employees of the House. I should like to know when I may expect returns. *
Mr. DUNNING:
The matter will be
brought to the attention of the Secretary of State.
On the Orders of the Day:
Mr. CHURCH:
I wish to direct the attention of the House to a letter published in the Toronto Gldbe in which the hon. member for
Southeast Grey (Miss Macphail) criticizes the policy of the British government in China. As a member of the House I wish to protest against this. .
Mr. SPEAKER:
There is no question oi privilege.
On the Orders of the Day:
Hon. J. W. EDWARDS (Frontenac-Adding-ton):
A month ago I put on the order paper a question regarding the number of cars used by members of the government. I have not yet received an answer to that question. I hope I shall not be left to estimate the number by the length of time it takes to get the answer. This is a question I desire to have answered before the House prorogues.
Hon. CHARLES DUNNING (Minister of Railways and Canals):
So far as the Railway department is concerned I was making inquiries only yesterday and I expect to table the return before prorogation.
On the Orders of the Day:
Mr. E. J. GARLAND (Bow River):
Now that the smoke of battle in connection with the Georgian bay question has cleared away, may I again ask the Minister of Railways whether he is prepared to lay before the House the policy of the government with respect to the development of Carillon power?
Hon. CHARLES DUNNING (Minister of Railways and Canals):
I am not prepared to make a statement of policy at the present time.
Mr. GARLAND (Bow River):
Is the House to understand that there will be a renewal of the lease to the National Hydro on the 1st of May?
Mr. DUNNING:
The House cannot understand anything of the kind.
