IMMIGRATION-DESTITUTE MENNONITES

On the orders of the day:

PRO

John Evans

Progressive

Mr. JOHN EVANS (Rosetown):

I wish

to direct the attention of the Minister of Immigration (Mr. Forke) to the fact that seventy-five families of Mennonites lately out from Europe have been left for some time without any means of support. The large land owners have moved to Mexico, and although their bishop has secured from $10 to $15 from the head of each family they are still without any means of support or of getting work.

George Halsey Perley

Conservative (1867-1942)

Sir GEORGE PERLEY:

I want to ask the minister a question because I am interested in the matter myself. There was a good deal of criticism Saturday night regarding the re-, peal of grants to class B fairs. There is one of these fairs in my own county and I know what a good thing it is. Will the minister say whether he will change the arrangements in respect to these grants to class B fairs and give them the usual amount?
