Thomas Cantley

Mr. CANTLEY:
I quite understand that, but I gathered from what the Prime Minister said a few moments ago that the findings and report would be put before the house.
Mr. CANTLEY:
I quite understand that, but I gathered from what the Prime Minister said a few moments ago that the findings and report would be put before the house.
Mr. MACKENZIE KING:
The board
does not make formal findings. All it does is provide the government with information as to the facts governing and the circumstances surrounding. Then the Minister of Finance, with that assistance, arrives at his own decision in the matter.
Mr. CANTLEY:
I will change my question. Will the recommendations of the tariff board be placed before the house?
Mr. MACKENZIE KING:
I will have to answer my hon. friend in the same way. All that the boat'd gathers in the way of information will be placed at the disposition of the house, but the government is the body that makes the decision, not the tariff board.
Mr. CANTLEY:
I thoroughly understand that. My question was quite distinct.
Mr. GARDINER:
I regret ,to say that the mover of this resolution unfortunately is away sick, and we have no idea whether or not he would care to press his motion to a vote. Would it be possible to allow the motion to stand?
Mr. MACKENZIE KING:
I think we had better dispose of it now.
Mr. BENNETT:
Move the adjournment of the debate.
Mr. MACKENZIE KING:
That would be-equally satisfactory.
Mr. GARDINER:
I will move the adjournment of the debate, then.
Motion agreed to and debate adjourned.
