We should have some explanation of this item. This would appear to be one of those cases where the contractor had taken the contract at too low a price and there are extras now to be paid.
Mr. ELLIOTT:
The water conditions at
this point were very unusual, and upon examination it was found that it cost S54,00C more than the contract price to construct, and the recommendation was made that we make up the difference. After very careful consideration it was decided that the company should pay half and that we should bear half the loss.
