Mr. Speaker, I desire to present a petition from the milk producers of Wentworth county in which they request that all reasonable and effective measures be taken in order to revive the dairy industry upon a basis equally advantageous to the producer and consumer, and that some equitable arrangement can be made whereby the producer of milk will be paid for his milk and milk products a price which at

least covers the cost of production and (provides for a profit on a par with that earned by the dairies.

That is a matter for the house. In view of the legislation now before the Senate, which will later be before the house, I hardly thought it would be advisable to proceed in that way, but of course that is my own opinion. It is for the house to decide.

The reason is that the Duff report suggested that the committee should not meet as it has met in the past. There are some suggestions which should be dealt with before that committee meets again, but of course that is only my own opinion again.
