inform the house that I have received communications from two members notifying me that the following vacancy had occurred in the representation, viz.:

Of Hon. Edmond Baird Ryckman, member for the electoral district of East Toronto, by

decease.

I accordingly issued my warrant to the chief electoral officer to make out new writs of election for the said electoral district.

I desire to lay on the table two copies of the recommendations with regard to unemployment relief measures for 1934, adopted at the Dominion-Provincial conference last week. The French copy is not yet translated, but I have handed a copy of this document to the loader of the opposition (Mr. Mackenzie King) and the leader of the group to the left of the official opposition (Mr. Gardiner).

BANKING COMMISSION

Mr. Speaker, I am laying on the table the report of the royal commission on Banking and Currency in Canada, together with a copy of the evidence presented to that commission. It will be observed that this evidence is contained in seven volumes and is voluminous. We have had six copies placed in the library which will be available immediately for the benefit of hon. members of the house. I am informed, further, that copies have been prepared for the use of the committee on banking and commerce.

A message from His Excellency the Governor General transmitting estimates for the financial year ending March 31, 1935 was presented by Hon. E. N. Rhodes (Minister of Finance), read by Mr. Speaker to the house and referred to the committee of supply.
