Henry Herbert Stevens (Minister of Trade and Commerce)

Conservative (1867-1942)

Mr. STEVENS:

The Dominion Bureau of Statistics have not recently recorded any production of anthracite in Canada. It is understood that there is a small deposit in the Cascade district

of Alberta which is being operated by one company at the present time, and which is anthracite in character. The output is only a few hundred tons annually, and has not been separated either in the reports of the Bureau of Statistics or of the Alberta government from the bituminous output.
