I believe the work at Halifax cost $970, roughly speaking.
Mr. STIRLING:
Can the minister give us any further information with regard to additional acquisitions for the Royal Canadian Navy. I believe the flotilla leader, which is in the A class, was obtainable, but I do not know whether Canada made any attempt to purchase it.
Mr. MACKENZIE (Vancouver):
As far
as my knowledge goes, no definite steps have been taken by the dominion government with reference to the flotilla leader. I know that to have the complement complete we should have a flotilla leader and possibly more mine sweepers, but there have been no negotiations entered into so far by the government.

When are the new ships expected to reach Canada?
Mr. MACKENZIE (Vancouver):
About the end of July.

Mr. MACKENZIE (Vancouver):
I am
afraid that is a legal and constitutional question which I would rather refrain from answering with any definiteness.
