MAIN ESTIMATES 1939-40


Hon. CHARLES A. DUNNING (Minister of Finance) moved: That the message of His Excellency the Governor General, together with the estimates presented on January 25, 1939, be referred to the committee of supply, with the exception of items Nos. 442, 443 and 454. He said: I might explain that the items excepted are those which are later to be referred to the special committee on the Canadian National Railways. Motion agreed to.

That was what I wanted to do, to take up the three government notices of motion in order that we might be in a position to bring them on to-morrow. All that is necessary is for the house to permit the ministers to state that His Excellency the Governor General has been informed of the subject matter of these resolutions and recommends them to the house. Then tomorrow they would appear under government orders, but if we cannot do that they will just stay where they are.
