Mr. McLARTY:

The Canadian medical procurement and assignment board, operating under the Department of National Defence, has been given power to survey the national situation with respect to available supply of physicians, with respect to disposition as between the armed services and civilian practice, and with respect to distribution in civilian practice. Much of this work has been done, and when it has been completed the Minister of Labour will be in a position to ascertain whether the findings of the board indicate a need for any change or expansion in the present civilian man-power regulations.
