1. United States authorities through the Commodity Credit corporation desired to purchase Canadian wheat for feed purposes to be consumed in the eastern states. As Canadian rail and lake transportation is fully utilized

in supplying the domestic and overseas market, the quantity of wheat to be purchased by the . U.S. is limited to the lake tonnage which can be supplied by the U.S. The U.S. lake tonnage available for the shipment of wheat is limited by the requirements of the ore trade.

2. So far the Commodity Credit corporation has purchased 7J million bushels of Canadian wheat. The grades of wheat to be shpped will be No. 3 northern, or higher.

3. The Commodity Credit corporation decided to purchase this wheat on the open market.

4. Export permits are not required for wheat grading No. 3 northern, or higher.
