Hon. F. G. Bradley (Secretary of State):

I understand that we pay these costs only where the act is in force. The only place it has been in force is in Quebec; and it is not in force there now, I understand. As far as we know, there is no evidence that lawyers' fees have decreased.

While the minister is

looking up that information, can he tell us how many counties in Ontario are still under the Canada Temperance Act?

Mr. Higgins:

Just for the county of Peel? Is that correct? Only in the county of Peel? The government had to pay $1,000

to enforce the Canada Temperance Act in the county of Peel? I am glad to hear about that.

Mr. Bradley:

This item is for the bibliographic centre. It is being conducted in connection with the national library. I do not know that it has any particular geographic location at the moment. It is an endeavour to index the books of all the libraries within Canada in order that they may be available to students and research workers who wish to look up particular works which will assist them in their studies.

I was wondering where this national library is, which is put in brackets after the words "bibliographic centre"; because my information was that we did not have one.
