LIB

Alphonse Fournier (Minister of Public Works; Leader of the Government in the House of Commons; Liberal Party House Leader)

Liberal

Mr. Fournier (Hull):

Mr. Speaker, the

Prime Minister mentioned today that it has become urgent that we deal with legislation concerning the veterans because the delegation of the Legion will be in Ottawa next week and wish to see the legislation before they make their representations before the veterans affairs committee. Therefore tomorrow we will proceed witth the motion setting up the special committee on veterans affairs. Then we shall take up the resolution preceding the bills relating to veterans: first, the motion on legislation respecting the war veterans allowances; second, the motion on the Veterans Benefit Act, 1951; third, the motion on the Veterans Insurance Act; fourth, the motion on the Pension Act, and then we will revert to the debate on the budget.
