Henry Herbert Stevens (Minister of Trade and Commerce)

Conservative (1867-1942)

Hon. H. H. STEVENS (Minister of Trade and Commerce):

May I reply to a query yesterday by the hon. member for Weyburn (Mr. Young). The explanation of the point raised is this. When returns are called for affecting more than one department, the two departments or more affected send their replies to the Secretary of State and then they are tabled. In this instance, the Secretary of State tabled the reply, but the figures were of two departments, and all that is necessary is to add the two together. I will accommodate my hon. friend by doing that now. Bureau of Statistics: 13,000 in English and 4,500 in French; King's Printer, 2,300 in

English and 60 in French, or a total of 15,300 in English and 4,560 in French. Those retained by the King's Printer are for sale upon demand.
