April 28, 1949 (20th Parliament, 5th Session)

PC

Donald Methuen Fleming

Progressive Conservative

Mr. Fleming:

My time is practically up. I have just nicely started on my review of evidence of the complete lack of responsibility this government is manifesting until this, its dying hour. There is no semblance or indication of repentance on the part of the government even now in this final hour of its existence. All during the lifetime of this parliament we have seen the government treat the house with studied contempt, regarding itself as above the elected representatives of the people, and not responsible to them.
In conclusion may I express a sense of thanksgiving that time has sufficiently run its course, and that the people of Canada are at last to be given an opportunity, which they will welcome, of placing their verdict, their judgment, on the irresponsibility of this dying government.
