Mr. A. W. NEILL (Comox-Alberni):

I
would like to call the attention of the Minister of Marine and Fisheries (Mr. Cardin), or possibly the Minister of Justice (Mr. Lapointe), to the decision recently given by the Supreme Court of Canada on a question that was referred to it some months ago regarding the jurisdiction of the Minister of Marine and Fisheries under the Fisheries Act, in relation to the issuance of certain fishing licenses in British Columbia. In view of that decision, I would ask if it is the intention of the government to amend the Fisheries Act to meet the situation'that has arisen, or how is it proposed to deal with the situation, because this is a matter of very great importance to British Columbia.
