Most Recent Speeches (Page 5 of 128)

March 1, 1939

Mr. BOTHWELL:

May I ask a question of the hon. leader of the opposition before another hon. member proceeds? I should like to ask whether it has not been customary to table these contracts, and would it not have been reasonable to ask for the tabling of this one without a political speech being made such as was made this afternoon by the hon. member for Vancouver North (Mr. MacNeil), particularly in view of the statements made by the Minister of National Defence (Mr. Mackenzie) last year?

Mr. BOTHWELL:

May I ask, for information, whether the hon. member can tell me who the father of that resolution is? I have received a number of similar resolutions from municipal councils, all couched in the same words, and I should like to know whence they emanate.

June 29, 1938

Mr. BOTHWELL:

I suggest that the

amendment might be made to subsection 1 of section 50. The amendment contains the words:

In the provinces of Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, at the hour of eight o'clock in the afternoon, in the

provinces of Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba, at the hour of seven o'clock in the afternoon, and in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia-

And these words would come before the word "immediately."
