Mr. BLATCHFORD:
When that lease was granted to the British and Oriental Grain Company, the United Grain Growers and the Alberta Pacific Grain Company, who looked over the plant, refused pointblank to entertain a lease. It was 'Considered a white elephant on the waterfront, and the harbour board at that time got in touch with a group of Alberta people who agreed to take the lease over. At a later date the United Grain Growers, after the lease had been cancelled to the British and Oriental Grain Company, took the plant over, and made twice as much profit in one year as the British and Oriental Grain Company had received by way of settlement.

I may say that two years ago this house insisted that the case be taken to the courts in British Columbia and there the company received a settlement for $133,000 odd.
