Mr. Wilfrid LaCroix (Quebec-Monimo-rency):
Mr. Speaker, may I direct a question to the Prime Minister. In view of the declaration made by him on April 30, 1957, at which time he was leader of the opposition, at New Glasgow and on May 10, 1957 at Parry Sound, to the effect that if the majority of the 10 million tons of iron ore exported raw from Canada yearly were processed here it would help solve the problem of unemployment, my question is this. Is it true that the government has at last decided to fulfil that promise?

Mr. Wilfrid LaCroix (Quebec-Monimorency):
Mr. Speaker, may I direct a question to the Prime Minister or perhaps to the Minister of Finance, who may be better informed on the question.

Mr. LaCroix:
May I direct a question to the Minister of Finance. I understood from the answer given yesterday in connection with granting loans to small businesses that a decision had not yet been reached so far as government policy is concerned. May I ask the minister if we may expect a decision soon?

Mr. Wilfrid LaCroix (Quebec-Montmorency):
Mr. Speaker, may I direct a question to the Prime Minister. In view of the declaration made by the Prime Minister at Brock-ville on May 8, 1957, in favour of granting loans to small business, and also in view of the
deplorable situation in which small manufacturers and small retailers actually find themselves, my question is this. Is it true that the government has decided at last to grant loans to small business?

Mr. LaCroix:
In view of the declaration made at the last dominion-provincial conference, and in view of the wishes expressed by the different provincial governments and their anxiety to secure an answer, my question is this. Is it true that the government has decided at last what share of the tax dollar will be received by the provinces and the municipalities?
