I am informed by the Departments of Transport and Treasury Board as follows: 1. Approval in principle for estimated cost between $3,600,000 and $5,500,000 by T.B. 604661 dated January 15, 1963 for a basic experimental station.

Additional funds increasing the cost to $9,100,000 were approved by T.B. 636168 dated February 17, 1965 to meet changing technical possibilities, substantial added requirements resulting from Canada having become a member of the international telecommunications satellite consortium in 1964 and the urgent need for additional trans-Atlantic telephone circuits.

3. Yes. Additional funds increasing the cost to $12,000,000 were approved by T.B. 649365 dated January 18, 1966 to meet the costs incurred in further system changes needed to cope with the rapidly changing technology and the agreements reached in the new international organization.

I am informed by Public Archives as follows: 1. Yes.

2. The data upon which the text of the Guide is based is provided by the Privy Council office. Owing to pressure of other work the office has not yet been able to send to the Public Archives the data for the period August 1, 1965 to July 1, 1967. As soon as this is received the Archives will proceed with the publication of a complete new edition of the Guide that will cover the period 1867-1967.

I cannot promise that, Mr. Speaker, as the question involves the total number of women employed in all services, including the public service of Canada, industries and other undertakings. It takes quite a long time to gather information to answer this type of question. We are trying to gather that information but, of course, each day that goes by more women are involved. Perhaps that will please the hon. lady.

I am informed by the Department of Industry as follows: The government has not sponsored any study of industrialization of agriculture with McMaster University. This project is listed by McMaster University in a brochure called "A Proposal for C.A.R.E.D. at McMaster University" as an example of the type of project which might be undertaken by their new Centre for Applied Research and Engineering Design.
