Mr. E. FORTIER (Lothbiniere) (translation):
Mr. Speaker, I put upon the Order paper a motion, on the 30th January, for the production of papers and correspondence concerning the cancelling of a mail contract.
Since the House resumed its labours, on the 19th April last I had the opportunity of seeing twice the acting Postmaster General in that connection and he gave me the assurance that these papers would be brought down as soon as possible. I have not got them yet and I should like to know when the Minister will give me satisfaction.
Subtopic: CANCELLATION OF A MAIL CONTRACT.

Mr. FORTIER:
The people in my riding are under the impression that the minister is delaying the work until the, next election. I may say to the committee that I do not want the construction of a wharf to be delayed. I recommend that the committee pass the item.
St. Germain de Kamouraska-wharf, $10,000.

Mr. FORTIER:
Is it the intention of
the Government to build this wharf? The minister has promised to do the work three or four times since he took office.

Mr. FORTIER:
I differ with the minister in regard to the importance of the work, because this wharf serves some five or six parishes, as the farm products and merchandise is taken from this wharf to the markets ajt Montreal and Quebec. It is the only way by which the farmer can get his products to the market.

Mr. FORTIER:
Is the minister soinu to try to do something this year so as to complete the work as soon as possible?
