I would impress on the hon. minister the advisability of seeing whether the people to the south of us might not be induced to do their share in the northern part. Our government have done five times as much as the American government have in that direction.

North, towards Skagway. It would be well if the hon. minister would communicate with the American government so as to draw its attention to the fact in order that it might do its share. I have heard American capitalists say that we did tentimes more in a short time since we have been opening up that country than they did all the time they have had any possessions there.
