Mr. B. ROSAMOND.
I would like to add a word to what has been said by the hon. member for West Toronto (Mr. Clarke). Some twelve or thirteen of these Austrians found their way to the town of Almonte, in my constituency a few days ago, and they are perfectly helpless so far as making their wants known or conversing with any person is concerned. I am told they are Austrians who had no means of support or of going any farther, and they are dependent on the charity of the people of Almonte for a place to sleep in and for food. I think it is very unreasonable that
a steamship company should be allowed to launch these people on the country without means of support or of going forward to their place of destination. I therefore hope that the government will take some steps to remedy evils of this kind.
