Mr. SHAW:
I think also some question
has arisen as to the interpretation of various sections of the Superannuation Act. I know that in some civil service organizations with which I am familiar these questions have arisen, and they have asked for another year in which to elect, pending assurances as to the real interpretation of the act.

Mr. SHAW:
I regret that T cannot agree with the hon. member for Maeleod. On the other hand, I approve of the minister's attitude both on the ground of convenience and expense, rand I hope his suggestion will be adopted.
!Mir. NEILL: I am in favour of the index being inserted in each volume. It is more convenient and it is not much more expensive when you consider the cost of binding in the copy of the index. I do not think there could be much more expense because you have to wait till the index is prepared in any event, and we know that Unrevised Hansard comes out on the last day of the session with a paper index which will be sufficient for us for the time being.
I would like to suggest another small change which would made it more convenient and would not cost anything, and that is that the front page of each individual day's proceedings be numbered. At present the first page of the day's debate is not numbered. As the book is bound, when you open it, it always opens at one of those pages, and when you look at this page you find there is no number and you hiave to turn over another page. If this principle was carried out right through the whole volume it would be a great convenience.

What is the present situation with regard to that combine? I rather understood an injunction proceeding had been taken out for the purpose of restraining any action.

Mr. SHAW:
I desire to raise a point of
order. Referring to the conference between the Senate and the House of Commons, Bourinot at page 179, rule 662 says:
While a conference is taking place, the deliberations of both Houses are suspended.
