Mr. Speaker, I saw the article in the newspapers to which the hon. member no doubt refers. I have made appropriate inquiries, and I find that instead of some $8,000 a month there is about $300 a month, and I am told that the officers of the letter carriers association agree with the department in the disciplinary action which is now being taken.

1. Yes. The Canadian National Railways have advised that trains 603-604 will operate on schedule which will preclude the possibility of meeting the requirements of the Post Office Department.
2. Yes. (a) The nine railway mail clerks affected will be assigned to duty in post offices at their present salary, (b) Arrangements are now being made for the establishment of highway services which will provide the public with equivalent service.
